The shares of DigitalBridge (NYSE: DBRG) garnered the market’s attention after Richard Choe, an analyst at JPMorgan, upwardly revised the digital infrastructure-focused investment firm’s rating to Overweight from Neutral, highlighting robust capital-raising momentum. The stock of DigitalBridge closed Friday’s trading session at $17.58, up 1.50% or $0.26 from its prior close.

The Boca Raton, Florida-based DigitalBridge Group, which has been in business for over 25 years, excels in the strategic allocation of capital across a range of digital infrastructure properties. These include cell towers, data centers, fiber networks, and small cell networks, constituting a sizeable portfolio valued at $69 billion. DigitalBridge Group diligently administers this portfolio on behalf of its limited partners and shareholders.

Richard Choe expects an improvement in the fund-raising environment, primarily due to the stabilization of interest rates and the rising interest in digital infrastructure among pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and other infrastructure investment entities.

To justify his argument, the analyst pointed out DigitalBridge’s achievement in securing $8 billion in capital for its DBP II Fund, surpassing its initial target of $6 billion. Choe’s note to investors indicates an expectation of a similar amount for the upcoming fund, DBP III, currently in the phase of establishment.

It can be remembered that Colony Capital, a privately held firm established by Tom Barrack, underwent a rebranding process two years ago. This was done to reflect its transition to digital infrastructure investment following its takeover of Digital Bridge in 2019.

According to the analyst, the business transition at DigitalBridge is almost complete, and the firm is now concentrating on keeping its operations simple. Richard Choe also trusts that investments in the firm offer exposure to a range of digital infrastructures without being restricted to a single sector or region.

Choe believes that investors are actively seeking specialized alternative asset management firms, and digital infrastructure stands apart due to its brighter multi-year growth prospects, substantial scale, and potential for beneficial returns.

Furthermore, he anticipates a decline in interest rates in the coming months to aid DigitalBridge in raising capital as interest in investments related to digital infrastructure gathers momentum.

Notably, Seeking Alpha’s Quant system has given a hold rating for the stock.

Based on the aforesaid facts, while upwardly revising the stock’s rating, the analyst also lifted the price target to $25 from $19, reflecting a potential appreciation of about 50% from Friday’s closing price. The upward revision reflects JPMorgan’s positive view of the company’s capital growth.

The rating upgrade is expected to keep the stock price of DigitalBridge slightly bullish in the short term.

The historical price chart indicates that the stock of DigitalBridge is ascending after consolidating between $16 and $17. The next resistance is anticipated to be only near $20. Additionally, the stock is trading above its 50-day moving average, while the stochastic RSI is rising toward the bullish zone. Therefore, we anticipate the stock of DigitialBridge to remain in an uptrend in the near term.
